Funeral services for Albert Virgil Barnes, Jr, 61, of Ferriday LA, formerly of Tallulah, will be held at Lake St. John Baptist Church at Lake St. John on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 1:00 PM with Bro. Mark Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Vicksburg City Hill Cemetery, Vicksburg, MS, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until service time of 1.

Virgil Barnes was born on Saturday, May 13, 1961, in Vicksburg, MS. and passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022, in Ferriday, LA. Virgil spent his working life on the Mississippi working on a tugboat as a tankerman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Virgil Barnes, Sr. and brother, Lemul Paul Barnes.

Virgil is survived by his mother, Patsy Cunningham of Port Gibson, MS; sister, Teressa Richardson and husband Mark, of Ferriday, LA, and one brother, Bobby Bailey and Wife Tracey of Pineville, MO. He is also survived by his nephews Paul Stone, Justin Richardson, Robert Bailey, Adam Bailey and Matthew Bailey and niece LaKeesha Jordan.

Those honoring Virgil as pallbearers will be his nephews and great nephews Paul and Justin Richardson, Elijah and Enoch Jordan, and Alex and Luke Stone.
