Obituary for Bobby Ray Emrick

Funeral services for Bobby Ray Emrick, 90, of Wildsville, LA will be held at Evangeline Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 11AM with Rev. Curtis Smith and Brad Bryan officiating. Interment will follow at Evangeline Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Bobby was born on Tuesday, February 16, 1932 in Chase, LA and passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022 in Monroe, LA. He grew up in Catahoula Parish helping his father farm. In 1950, he left and joined the Marines, and proudly served during the Korean Conflict. When he returned from Korea he was stationed at Camp LeJeune where he was a Drill Instructor. In 1952, Bobby married the love of his life, Barbara Alice Bryan. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and returned home. Upon returning home, he got a job with the International Paper Company in Natchez, MS and resided in Vidalia. In his spare time, he enjoyed refereeing High School basketball games, where he was well known for his flamboyant calls. After the birth of their only child, Allyson, Bobby moved his family from Vidalia and made their home in Wildsville, where he took on farming full time while still working for IP in 1963. He retired in 1973 from IP and expanded his farming operation. Bobby was ordained a Deacon of Evangeline Baptist Church in 1984 and served until his illness. He was very active in the up-keep of the church and served in several different committees there. He enjoyed gardening, but more importantly he enjoyed being able to share his produce with his neighbors and community. Bobby was a family man and loved spending time with them, especially his grandsons and great-grandsons. He was a true jokester, with a memorable handshake and enjoyed picking with people by greeting them in Korean.

He is reunited with the love of his life, Barbara "Alice" Emrick; parents, William Emrick and Violet Jernigan Emrick; brothers, Louie Emrick and Fred Emrick; and sisters, Helen Wilson, Billie Gallender, and Sarah Wilson.

Bobby leaves behind his daughter, Allyson Lensing & her husband Luke of West Monroe, LA; grandsons, Jacob & Casey L. Lensing of Sunset, LA and Bryan & Chelsea H. Lensing of West Monroe, LA; and great- grandsons, Brayden, Barrett, Bennett, and Maddox Lensing.

Those honoring Mr. Bobby as pallbearers are Jacob Lensing, Bryan Lensing, Kenneth Joe Gallender, Bill Wilson, Mark Wilson, and Shayne Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Evangeline Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at Evangeline Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 9:30AM until service time at 11AM.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home for their loving compassion and care for Mr. Bobby during his stay there.
