Memorial service for Clifton Leon Brownell, Jr., 67, of Ridgecrest, LA will be held at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 1PM with Rev. Mary Jackson officiating, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
Leon was born on Thursday, August 11, 1955, in Winnsboro, LA and passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023, in Baton Rouge, LA. He attended the Pentecostals of Miss Lou. Leon retired after over 30 years in the oilfield. When he retired, he spent his time as mechanic working on 18-wheelers. Leon's favorite past times was taking care of his family, playing pool, and dancing, especially with his wife. He was a great and giving man and would go out of his way to help anyone he seen in need. Leon was a family man that loved his family and friends, but he truly adored his grandchildren. He looked forward to the weekends spent with them.
He is reunited with his parents, Clifton Leon Brownell, Sr., and Minnie Jordan Brownell; sister, Barbara Tucker, and Mavis Pauline Brownell; and brothers, Jerry Wayne Brownell and Allen Wade Brownell.
Leon leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Wendy Brownell of Ridgecrest, LA; daughters, Crystal Hootsell & her husband Matthew, Sr., of Vidalia, LA, Stephanie Jenkins & her husband Spencer of Shreveport, LA, and Rami Hailey & her husband Dustin of Ridgecrest, LA; son, Matthew Whiteman & his wife Niki of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Caitlyn Hootsell, Matthew Hootsell, Jr., Dezi Hailey, and DJ Hailey; brother, A.C. Brownell of Ferriday, LA; sisters, Diane Andrews & her husband Jeff of Natchez, MS, Mary Jackson & her husband Bill of Fort Worth, TX, Delores Holland & her husband Wayne of Parhams, LA, Sheila Christiansen of Jena, LA, Sylvia Cowart of Vidalia, LA, and Kathy Craig of Vidalia, LA; uncle, George Brownell; best-friend, Gary Janeau of Ridgecrest, LA; and special friends and family, Bobby Sheppard, Cindy Halford, Stefanie Bell, Clyde LaBlanc, and Kevin Harrigal.
Honoring Leon as pallbearer will be Bill Jackson.
The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 11:30AM until service time at 1PM.
