Obituary for Dana "Danny" Knapp
Funeral services for Dana "Danny" Ray Knapp, 69, of Wisner, LA will be held at New Hope Apostolic Church in Leland, LA at 12 PM on Monday, May 1, 2023 with Pastor Chris Hamilton and Pastor Jeremy Howington officiating. Interment will follow at Oakley Cemetery in Gilbert, LA under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
Danny was born on Tuesday, January 12, 1954 in Natchez, MS and passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023 in Alexandria, LA. He attended Miss-Lou Pentecostals and New Hope Apostolic Church. Danny was a kind soul who loved his family, and all those close to him. You could truly see this through his love for cooking. It was a physical way to share his love and he took great joy in lighting up his barbeque pit or serving up some delicious homemade biscuits. He was a man who did many things in his life, from farming, to the oil field, to just an all around handyman. Just behind cooking and spending time with his family you could find him in the woods hunting or casting a line at his favorite fishing spot. Danny's love will be remembered through the memories he made with those he cared for.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Knapp; and his sister, Deborah Johnese.
Those left to cherish Danny's memories are his wife of 37 years, Eva Knapp of Wisner, LA; son, Tony Knapp & his wife Chrissy of Naples, TX; daughters, Christy Woods & her husband Randy of Vidalia, LA and Amy Laredo of Fenwick, MS; mother, Ettie V Knapp of Waterproof, LA; brothers, Douglas Knapp of Waterproof, LA and Mack Knapp & his wife JoAnn of Denham Springs, LA; sisters, Diane Caldwell & her husband Billy of Wisner, LA, Bobbie Knapp King of Clayton, LA, and Karen Knapp of Waterproof, LA; brother-in-law, Johnny Dodson of Ferriday, LA; sister-in-law, Pattie Faye Dodson of Ferriday, LA; brother-in-law, William Dodson & his wife Marcie of Jonesville, LA; grandchildren, Dana Moon, Sabrina Woods, Morgan Woods, Houston Woods, Daisha White, Valerie Newman, Jonna Newman, Kelli Newman; great-grandchildren, Jacilynn Ratcliff, Mia Ratcliff, Parker Moon, special friends, Don Tarver, GW Welch, and Troy Kenny, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Those honoring Danny as pallbearers will be Tony Knapp, Randy Woods, Houston Woods, Jeremy Polk, Wayne Caldwell, Randy Caldwell, Nathan Johnese, and Andy Woods.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Caldwell, Brian McJimsey, and JR Caldwell.
The family will receive friends at New Hope Apostolic Church in Leland, LA from 10 AM until the time of the service at 12PM on Monday, May 1, 2023.
