Funeral services for George Walton Sewell, Jr., 81, of Vidalia, LA will be held at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 2PM with Bro. Carlos Spaht officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Pine Cemetery in Monterey, LA, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
George was born on Tuesday, November 11, 1941 in Plantersville, AL and passed away Tuesday, July 04, 2023 at his home surrounded by loved ones. In the late 60's early 70's, George was a Police Officer in Ferriday, LA and went to work for the LA Wildlife & Fisheries as a Game Agent in 1972. For the last 20 years, George proudly served as Constable of Concordia Parish. He was P.O.S.T. Council Firearms Instructor, attended FBI Firearms School in Texas, and an Expert Marksman. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, and rodeoing.
He is reunited with his parents, George Walton Sewell, Sr. and Edna Morace Sewell; brother, Leon Sewell; grandsons, Cam Fairbanks and Jesse Sewell.
George leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Wanda Barnett Sewell of Vidalia, LA; children, Craig Walton Sewell & his wife Penny of Carencro, LA; George Rowdy Sewell & his wife Marion of Ruston, LA; Candy Fairbanks of Jonesville, LA; Sam Jones of Natchez, MS, and Rhonda Jones Young & her husband John of Erath, LA; grandchildren, Hunter Key & his wife Sydney, Drew Perry & her husband Dustin, Courtney Poore, Kaci Jones, Cheyenne Hunt, Cass Fairbanks, Conner Fairbanks, Rosemary Sewell, Francis Sewell, Juliette Sewell, Mary Michaela Sawyer & her husband Ryan; sister, Janice Sewell Spaht & her husband Carlos; 6 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Those honoring George as pallbearers will be Mike Cook, Derek Poore, Jody Morace, Johnny Bernard, Joey Merrill, and Jerry Lipsey.
The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday, LA on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 1PM until service time at 2PM.
