Hortence Townsend also known as Mrs. Shorty was born and raised in Port Arthur Texas, where she met her loving husband James Townsend Sr. After a few years living in Texas the two moved to Louisiana and started a small family. That small family became a very large and loving family. She loved all of her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much.
She and her husband attended Rosin Creek Pentecostal Church , where she taught Sunday school. Those children , who are now adults meant the world to her. Mrs. Shorty worked at Catahoula Council on Aging for over 20 years. She made a huge impact on her small community. She loved and cared for her elderly people and she always made sure that everyone had more than what they needed. Anyone who knew her knew she wasn’t very big but her heart made up for it in size. She will be missed by many.
