Obituary for Joe Coughran

Funeral Services for Joe Coughran, 49, of Sicily Island, LA will be held Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Pinehill Baptist Church at 10AM with Bro. Chris Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at South Central Baptist Church Cemetery, Wisner, LA under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6PM until 8PM at Pine Hill Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.


Joe was born on Wednesday, June 23, 1971 in Russelville, AR and passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 in Ferriday, LA. He was currently working for Riverland/Trinity Medical Center and has been an employee for the past 33 years, as the Purchasing Director. Joe enjoyed spending time outdoors. His favorites were barbecuing and fishing with his family and friends, but more importantly with his grandsons. He loved all music, and loved playing the guitar and drums. Overall, Joe loved his family; he was a dad, husband, pawpaw, cousin, uncle, friend, and so much more. Joe always had a smile on his face, and will dearly be missed by everyone that had the opportunity of knowing him.

 He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Wayne Coughran.

Joe leaves behind his wife - Anna Walker Coughran; mother, Sue Kerstetter & her husband Rodger; son, David Coughran; daughter, Morgan Riley & her husband Michael; and son, Wesley Coughran all of Sicily Island, LA; two daughters, Sandra Coleman & her husband Rick of Olla, LA and Erica Walker & Stacey of Sicily Island, LA; son, William Walker & his wife Brittney of Jena, LA; 12 grandchildren, Laylah Graham, Chelsie Breland, Landon Breland, Cutler Coleman, James Crooks, Zaylee Walker, Breanna Walker, Ava Walker, Tristen Coughran, Oliver Coughran, Michael Riley, and Weston Riley; sister, Angie Coughran of Harrisonburg, LA; niece, Victoria Curtis of Walker, LA; great-niece, Kayliana Curtis of Harrisonburg, LA; and great-nephew, Hayden Williamson of Walker, LA. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Those honoring Joe as pallbearers are Mark Brandenburg, Damion Anderson, Jeffrey Bryer, Kenneth Seratt, Johnny Zuccaro, and Stacey McCarty.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cutler Coleman, Glenn Kenny, Keith Buxton, and the Staff of  Riverland/Trinity Medical Center.
