Funeral services for Joseph "Joe Tom" Thomas Trunzler , Sr., 77, of Jonesville, LA will be held at Saint Gerards Catholic Church on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 10AM with Father John Pardue officiating. Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery in Jonesville, LA, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
Joe Tom was born on Friday, July 20, 1945 in Jonesville, LA and passed away Wednesday, July 05, 2023 in Jonesville, LA surrounded by loved ones. He devoted his life to his family and his community. Joe Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a US Deputy Marshall for the Federal Government, he retired as a LA State Trooper after serving over 20 years, and served as Sheriff for Catahoula. He was in law enforcement for over 48 years. Joe Tom was not only dedicated to the community, but to his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Joe Tom was a friend to all he met and everyone loved him.
He is reunited with his parents, Basil "B.G." Guise Trunzler, III and Mamie Bethard Trunzler; son, Joseph "Joey" T. Trunzler, JR.; great-granddaughter, Adalyn Brooke Ray; brother, Basil Trunzler, IV, and sister, Ann T. Coker.
Those left behind to cherish Joe Tom's memories are his love of his life of 54 years, Mary Gene Trunzler; daughters, Katie T. Adams & her husband Johnnie of Jonesville, LA and Sommer Kimbrough & her husband Ethan of Jonesville, LA; grandchildren, Jake Ray & his wife Taylor and their daughter, Lucy Rose Ray all of Monterey, LA, Mary-Kate Parker & her husband Jordan of Liddieville, LA, Noah Ray of Jonesville, LA, Carree Smith & her husband Avery of Jonesville, LA, Jackson Adams of Jonesville, LA, and Annaline Kimbrough of Jonesville, LA; brother, Martin Trunzler of Jonesville, LA; loyal companion, Lucy; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Those honoring Joe Tom as pallbearers will be A.D. Taylor, Quint Trunzler, Justin Urena, Nathan Roark, Jacob Roark, and Skeeter Kimbrough.
Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons and sons-in-laws, Jimmy Stephens, and JR McMillan.
The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home in Jonesville on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 5PM until 8PM.
