Obituary for Joyonne Brooks
A graveside service for Mrs. Joyonne Brooks, 83, of Jonesville, LA will be held at Heard Cemetery in Manifest, LA at 11:30 on Saturday, December 12, 2020 with Bro.Todd Whittington officiating, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Jonesville. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Jonesville on Saturday, December 12, 2020 from 9:00 to 11:00.
Mrs. Brooks was born on Wednesday, June 16, 1937 in Manifest, LA and passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 in Jonesville, LA. She was a resident of Jonesville, a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesville and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Brooks was a teacher for a short time, but spent most of her adult life helping to run Brooks Drugs with her husband, H.P.. When she was not at the drug store, you could usually find her on the tennis court or in her yard. She loved working in her yard and grew beautiful flowers of which she made beautiful arrangements for her church or any gathering or occasion. Mrs. Brooks was very active in her church, in the community and ready to lend a hand to anyone at any moment. She was the life of the party, always witty and had many one-liners. You could always count on her for a smile or a laugh. Mrs. Brooks was a hard worker and loved her family dearly. She especially loved when her grandchildren came to visit.
Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband Henry Preston (H.P.) Brooks, Jr., two sons, Henry Kevin Brooks and Kyle Preston Brooks, parents Stanford Richardson, Sr. and Georgia Bennett Richardson, and one sister Lynne Bernice Richardson.
Survivors include her brother Stanford Richardson Jr. and wife Sandy of Jonesville, LA, granddaughter Paige Brooks Gooch and husband Charles of Grovetown, GA, and grandson Deven Blood Brooks of Pineville, LA.
Pallbearers will be Caden Blood, Reggie Craig, Charles Gooch, Riley Labarre, Steven Labarre and Stan Richardson,
