Funeral services for Kirby Roy Black, 83 of Newellton, LA will be held at St. Joseph Church of Christ at 2 PM on Sunday, August 27, 2023 with Britt Keahey officiating. Interment will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
Kirby Roy Black was born on Monday, March 25, 1940 in Natchez, MS and passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at his home in Newellton. Kirby, a man of unwavering spirit. From a tender age of 17, he embarked on a courageous journey by joining the Navy, demonstrating his resolute dedication to serving his country. An emblem of determination, he fearlessly embraced challenges, shaping his character as a man of integrity and valor. Nature was his sanctuary, where he found solace and joy. An avid outdoorsman, his passion for fishing and hunting was infectious, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to share in his adventures. His expertise and enthusiasm inspired many to connect with the natural world.
Punctuality was a hallmark of Kirby's life. Whether it was in his military service, outdoor pursuits, or daily interactions, he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to punctuality, reflecting his respect for others' time and his disciplined nature.
As one of four brothers, Kirby cherished the bonds of family. His loyalty, wisdom, and sense of humor brought joy to family gatherings and strengthened the ties that bound them together. Kirby’s legacy lives on through the memories he crafted and the lives he touched. He leaves behind a tapestry of courage, love for nature, punctuality, and family values. He will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Black, brother, Gary Black, brother, Larry Black, parents, Isaac and Evelyn Black.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Tammy Scott Barton (Ronnie) of Tallahassee, FL, Brain Black of Houma, LA, Brad Black of Newellton, LA, brother, Ferrall Black of Wales, Great Britain; grandchildren, Samantha Scott, Blake Barton, Madeline Black, Julia Black, Laura Black, Nicholas Black, Victoria Black, Avery Boudreaux; great grandchildren Olivia Scott, Amelia Scott, and Bentley Authement.
Pallbearers will be Brian Black, Brad Black, Nicholas Black, Tyler Vestal, Zach Cosper, Neil Vestal, TJ Vestal, Brandon Black, Blake Barton, and David Daigle.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronald Vestal, Tommy Vestal, Steve Cosper, John Wayne Vestal and Kelly Black.
