Memorial services for Kirk Cavin age, 52, of Pearland, Tx. formerly of Ferriday La. will be held on Saturday December 11, 2021 2:00PM with Casey Young officiating at Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 o'clock service time.
Kirk was a gentle soul with a great big smile that had many many different meanings. A smile, a smirk and eyebrow raised head nod were some of the many faces Kirk had readily available for what ever the temperature of the moment was. He had a comic wit and a dry one at that, dripping with sarcasm. From belly laughs to stories of the times gone by they would all end with that infectious laugh that we all loved. He was a friend to the end and loved in his own unique way that was non verbal but non the less you felt it. The cats in the cradle, learning to walk this way, always quick on his feet to help you out or walk the wrong way down the road of life. Friend to end, yep, that is what he was and will forever remain in the hearts and lives of those who were favored with his friendship. Kirk served our country in the Army National Guard transportation unit during the Iraq War "Operation Desert Storm", He left a boy and came back a man, as many of the unit members. Well he didn't always act like a man, then again who does!
Kirk was preceded in death by his mother Carolyn Gousett, his uncle Shorty Metcalf.
He is survived by his father, Butch Cavin and wife Georgia; and half brother, Troy Cavin. Also surviving is a wealth of friends who have so many takes from the many different friendships that he cultivated during his life.
Pallbearers will be David and Leigh King, Jay Meyers, Casey, Shane and Jeff Young, Rowdy Sewell, and Dusty Butler.
