Obituary for Martha Jones Peters

Graveside services for Martha Jones Peters, 85, of Rayville, LA will be held at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, LA on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 3:30p.m with Johnny Hoychick, Jr. officiating, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Martha was born on Sunday, November 7, 1937 in St. Joseph, LA to Arthur Lamar Jones and Maggie Louise Jones and passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a much-loved wife, mother, and grandmother. Martha was known to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many of their friends as well, as "Gran". Martha loved to bake and work in her flower garden, especially her rose garden, and she loved to share those products with her family and friends. She and her husband, Max, devoted a lot of their time to their family and friends. Martha was a member of Rayville Garden Club, serving as President, and on many committees. She was also a member of Red Hat Club, a Rhymes Library supporter, Saints Alive, and attended First Baptist Church of Rayville.

She is reunited with the love of her life, her husband, Max Henderson Peters, Sr.; parents; sister, Mary Elizabeth Jones; brother, Louis Jones; grandchildren, Cori Rife and Wynn Rife; great-grandson, Luke Didyoung and brother-in-law, Micheal J. Cousins, Sr.

Happy memories of Mrs. Martha will be cherished by her loving children, Stephanie Rife & her husband Lee, Max Peters, Jr. & his wife Dena, and Arthur Peters & his wife LeAnne; grandmother to Stacey Rife Didyoung & her husband Chris, Katie Rife June & her husband Scott, and Kimberly Peters Reagan & her husband Chris; great-grandmother to Alexis, Jade, Trent, Addie Grace, Christina, Forrest, and Caleb and sister, Corinne Cousins.

Those honoring Martha as pallbearers are Lee Rife, Max Peters, Jr., Arthur Peters, Chris Didyoung, Scott June, and Chris Reagan.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Cousins, Jr., Hollis Adams, Joe Young, Jimmy Wood, and Perrin Roller.

The family ask that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to either St. Jude, Salvations Cross, First Baptist Church of Rayville, or the Alzhemiers Association.

The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Saturday, August 12, 2023 1p.m. until 2p.m with a procession following to the graveside at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, LA.
