Irene and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Irene, you and I went to high school together many, many years ago and, unfortunately, we lost touch since those times. I pray that your grief and pain is comforted by Omar's memories and the kind words expressed by so many friends on this memory wall.
May God Bless you and your family,
Rusty Eldridge

I roomed with Omar for a few years. As a fellow teacher, I could tell he loved his job teaching and was very good at it. I was very sad to hear of his passing.

I am so sorry and heart broken to hear about Omar. He was such a great person and my personal friend. I had not heard from Omar Since the end of July and decided to check out the Internet. I am sheading tears as I try to compose this message for his family. I have kept up with him almost daily since this crazy pandemic has hit. As you all know, I was very close to Omar's dad Reyes and mom Adelita. I am 77 years old and have known the family for most of my natural life. I can remember Omar as a very small child at the Armstrong Ranch when I visited there during the summer of my junior year of high school. Omar grew up to be a very talented young man and took such good care of his parents during the latter part of their lives while teaching music at several schools in Mississippi. I can be reached at 225-206-3272. If I don't answer, please leave a message so that I can return your call.

Diana and Irene, I am one of the many Collins girls who loved Omar as we were going through junior high and high school together. We had many fun times, in band and away from band, while giving him a ride home from band practice in our already crowded car, and even once when he escorted one of us to a sweetheart dance at our church. I can't even remember who he was matched with for the dance, but maybe Lulu, as she was the one who was in his same grade, but we were all good friends. Omar was always the kindest young man, and never had anything bad to say about anyone. I'm so sorry that I didn't keep in touch with him after leaving Natchez, as I know he would have been a wonderful friend to me if only I had reached out. Please be comforted during this very sad time knowing that his whole lifetime of goodness will not be defined by the brief moments just before his death. Those who truly knew Omar know and understand that perhaps he had lost his way, but he was a kind and decent person, and God has already forgiven him as we all must do, also. Patty Collins ward
