Obituary for Ray Micheau

Isaac “Ray” Micheau, 62, of St. Joseph passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022 after a
battle with cancer. Funeral services for Ray will be held at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday,
LA on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Catherine Micheau; sister, Joyce McClain
and her husband, Gene; and brothers, Roland Micheau Jr., and David Micheau.

Ray is survived by Dee Micheau of St. Joseph Louisiana, his wife for 31 years, his daughter,
Kimberly Pounds and husband Charlie of Waterproof; grandchildren Madison, Avery, and
Charity. His son Garrett Micheau and wife Brooke of Bossier City, and brother Glenn Micheau
and wife Patsy of Monterey, and his much beloved cat that he swore he did not want, Ash.

Ray was born on January 2, 1960, in Natchez, MS to Roland and Catherine Micheau and was raised in Ferriday, LA. Ray was an outdoorsman, passionate gun collector, hunter, fisherman, and troublemaker from a young age. A true animal lover, he never met a creature he did not want to hunt, trap, or pet.
A skilled hunter, he was at his happiest in the beauty of nature. For both friends and family, Ray
always had a joke for any situation, often something inappropriate or sarcastic that would make
you laugh when you definitely shouldn’t be. His favorite thing was messing with Dee and
watching her reactions which remained true even through the worst of the illness. Ray loved
those around him with a loyalty and responsibility that spoke to the strength of his character, he
would always check the weather reports or news for people he knew around the country, quick
to warn you of anything dangerous. Even if he was hard to get on the phone or slow to respond
to a text, you were always on his mind, and he would do anything for you. Ray worked as a gin
manager for the Tensas Co-op Gin, where he worked for over 25 years. Ray was dedicated to
the Gin and became very close with the staff and employees. Many of them becoming as close
as family and have been a great help and comfort through his illness. Ray was loved by many
people, from many different walks of life, and never stopped surprising those around him.
Though his battle with sickness was a difficult one, Ray passed on in comfort, surrounded by
love, and leaving us all with our many, many stories about him.

Those honoring Ray as pallbearers will be his brother Glenn Micheau, friend and brother-in-law Larry Larsen, friend and coworker Crawford Kifer, lifelong friend Willie Brown, friend Mike Rogers, and family friend Austin Emfinger.

Honorary pallbearers being staff and employees of Tensas Co-op Gin, Jack Morgan, Dickie
Smith, Terri Grissom, Ashton and Erica from Enhabit Hospice, staff of Mary Bird Perkins of
Natchez Mississippi, prayer warrior Linda Cunningham.

The family thanks everyone for their kind words, prayers, and support both now and throughout
this year.
