Obituary for Scott "Jackie" McNeely, Jr.
Funeral services for Scott "Jackie" McNeely, Jr. will be at Mayna Church of God in Mayna, LA on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 10 am with Bro. Jason Wiley officiating. Interment will follow at Palo Alto Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at the church from 5 pm until 9 pm. All services are under the direction of Young's Funeral Home-Jonesville, LA
Jackie was born in Ferriday, LA on January 11, 1946 and passed away in Baytown, TX on June 25, 2023 while visiting family. He grew up in Mayna, LA along with two sisters and three brothers. He was the first born to Scott McNeely, Sr. and Annie Mae Pecanty McNeely. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years, traveling, camping, playing cards with his buddies, and spending time with family and friends. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran in the United States Army and soybean farmer for more than 55 years and a leader in the community.
Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Annie Mae; sister, Francis Melton; brother, Donald McNeely; and son, Scotty McNeely.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Herron McNeely; daughter, Lori Jackson & her husband Tim; granddaughter, Maura Franks & her husband Wyatt; great-granddaughter, Nora; grandson, Cole Cooper & his wife Gentry; brother, Glenn McNeely and his wife Brenda; brother, W.F. McNeely and his wife Debra; sister, Faye Ford and her husband Buster; step-son, Kelsey McGraw & his wife Bobbie; step-daughter, Lakrishia Brossette & her husband Jeffrey; grandchildren, Austin Brossette, Brandon Brossette, Ashton Brossette, Emma Paulk, Devin McGraw, Dylan McGraw, Arial McGraw, and Lexi McGraw; and great-grandchildren, Briston, Finlee, and Elizabeth Brossette. Jackie is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends who dearly love him.
Those honoring Jackie as pallbearers are Kelsey McGraw, Jeffrey Brossette, Craig Cooper, Tony McNeely, Ricky Reynolds, Steve McNeely, Kevin Trisler, and Cole Cooper.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Honor Guard of Jena, LA, VFW or St. Jude’s.
