Funeral services for Shelby Nugent, 79, of Ferriday, LA will be held at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2PM. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
Shelby was born on Saturday, May 24, 1941 in Harrisonburg, LA and passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020 in Ferriday, LA. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Shelby was an avid gardener and fisherman. Most importantly he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is reunited with his wife, Sybil Carlton Nugent; parents, Dovie Tarver Nugent and Mac Nugent; five brothers, Michael, Oscar, Howard, Douglas, and Ray Nugent; three sisters, Fran Nugent, Ann Nugent, and Lottie David; and daughter, Cindi Evans.
Shelby leaves behind his son, Randall Gene Nugent; six grandchildren, Scott Nugent & his wife Angel, Brent Evans & his wife Courtney, Kayla Nugent, Amy Nugent, Hannah Boyd, and Cameron Nugent; seven great-grandchildren, Tyson, Trevor, and Taelyn Nugent, Brooklyn and Natalie Evans, Kenalee Nugent, and Carson Miller; brother, Roy Nugent; and two sisters, Michelle Conner & her husband Larry and Ruth Till.
Pallbearers are Daniel Cupit, Jimmy Davis, Kory Landry, Drew McGivaren, Earl Hailey, and Brent Evans.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Guillot, Brian McJimsey, and Jerry McJimsey.
