Memorial services for Shelby Stanford Rice, 84 of Clayton, LA will be held at Monterey Church of Christ on Saturday, July 22 , 2023 at 2:00pm with Bro. Vince Mallette officiating under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
Shelby Stanford Rice was born on Sunday, January 08, 1939 in Monterey, LA. and passed away Monday, June 26, 2023 at his home in Clayton, LA. He was a resident of Clayton, and a life long Louisiana sportsman. Shelby spent much of his life in the woods or on the water; hunting a fishing were his most favorite hobbies. Even when he could not get around like he could in his younger days he still managed to build a rifle mount that attached to his scooter. His stories and life will be missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Catherine Rice, twin brother, Shelton Rice, brothers, George Rice, Sammy Rice, Mark Rice, and his sister, Dannie Belle Hedrick.
His memory will be cherished through his numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give thanks to Ed Rowan, Inhabit Hospice, and Connie Anthony for all of their help help over the years.
