Funeral services for Shirley Lou Townsend, 73, of Deville, LA will be held at Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 2PM with Bro. Joseph Townsend and Bro. Albert Coates officiating. Interment will follow to Siloam Cemetery in Aimwell, LA, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Shirley was born on August 6, 1949 in Harrisonburg, LA and passed away surrounded by loved ones on December 24, 2022 in Deville, LA.
She is reunited with her parents, Al Townsend and Mary Coker Townsend; husband, Vernon Lee Smart; daughter, Jenny Olivia Smart; brother, AW Townsend; and sister, Vertie Marie Edwards.
Shirley leaves behind to cherish her memories a daughter, Teresa Adkinson & her husband Kevin of Deville, LA; grandson, Lee Whittington & his wife Rebekah of Deville, LA; granddaughters, Kaitlyn Brunson & her husband Cody of Bentley, LA and Emily Whittington of Deville, LA; step-granddaughters, Brittney Deloach & her husband Jonathan of Pollock, LA, Morgan Cole of Pollock, LA, and Megan Lawrence & her husband Christian of West Monroe, LA; brothers, Gene Townsend & his wife Melba of Logansport, LA and James Townsend of Sicily Island; sister, Rena Fulford & her husband Marvin of Winnsboro, LA; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Those honoring Shirley as pallbearers are her nephews: Toney Edwards, David Edwards, Clint Townsend, Bubba Townsend, Shane Townsend, James Townsend, Raymond Nugent, Ashley Poole.
Honorary pallbearers are Larry Whittington and Jeffrey Whittington.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Campbell and his nurse Ms. Renee for all of their kindness during moms illness and to Compassionate Care Hospice, they did more than just their job they treated us as family.
The family will receive friends at Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville, LA on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 11: 30 am until service time at 2PM.
