Obituary for Thomas "TL" Cater
Funeral services for Thomas Lee "TL" Cater, 92, of Harrisonburg, LA will be held at Harrisonburg First Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 10:00 AM with Bro. Phillip Caples officiating. Internment will follow at New Pine Hill Cemetery, Sicily Island, LA, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
Thomas Lee "TL" Cater was born on Thursday, December 20, 1928 in Jigger, LA. and passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021, at his home in Harrisonburg, LA. He was a resident of Harrisonburg, a member of Harrisonburg First Baptist Church, long-time mayor and town council member of Harrisonburg, and a 52 year member of the Harrisonburg Masonic Lodge 110. Thomas farmed and raised cattle for most of his life and was an avid hunter who loved cooking at the camp and the camaraderie shared with family and friends around a camp fire. He was also an expert gardener who enjoyed nothing more than sharing the bounty of his garden others.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Earline Clawson Cater; father, Thomas Marion Cater; mother, Tyra White Cater; two sisters: Lois Christiansen and Faye Allen; and brother, Howard W. Cater.
Thomas is survived by his sons: Thomas G. Cater and his wife Jessica of Harrisonburg, LA; Mike Cater and his wife Terri of Harrisonburg, LA; Paul Cater and his wife Melissa of Harrisonburg, LA; three grandsons: Jeffery Cater, Tyler Cater, and Casey Cater; and six granddaughters: Jennifer Salisbury, Brooke Holland, Kylie Miller, Coty Parr, Shawn Russell and Erica Cater. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeffery Cater, Tyler Cater, Casey Cater, Jacob Cater, Braxton Tiffee, and Lee Cater.
The family will receive friends at Harrisonburg First Baptist Church from 5:00 PM til 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
