Obituary for Wayne Tarver

Funeral services for Edward Wayne Tarver, Sr., 78 of Ferriday, LA will be held at Young's Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday, LA on Sunday, April 2, at 2PM with Bro. James King and Bro. Bo Swilley officiating. Interment will follow at Cypress Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Edward Wayne Tarver, Sr. was born on Sunday, November 19, 1944, in Ferriday, LA. and passed away Friday, March 31, 2023, at his home with his loved ones. He was a resident of Doty Road, and a member of Hill Memorial Baptist Church in Ferriday, LA. Wayne was avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing his whole life. His family, his work, hunting and the Lord were his greatest passions. He will be missed by all those who called him their friend. Wayne proudly served his country in the Army National Guard from 1965-1971. Where he earned an Expert Rifleman Medal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Geneva Tarver, and brother-in-law, Pat Tucker.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 great years, Brenda Tarver of Ferriday, LA, son, Edward Tarver Jr. (Kari) of Ferriday, LA, son, Joseph Tarver (Andrea) of Waterproof, LA, granddaughter, Taylor Tarver, granddaughter, Isabella Tarver, grandson, Luke Joseph Tarver, grandson, Cole Hornsby, grandson, Daley Sesser, grandson, James Harper Evans, granddaughter, Carrie Liz Evans, granddaughter, Chelsea Smith, brother, Chester Tarver (Doris) of Clinton, LA, brother, Charles Tarver (Jennie) of Wildsville, LA, sister, Martha Mathews (Quenten) of Clayton, LA, sister, Dewanna Mason (Frank) of Ferriday, LA, sister-in-law, Bobbie Tucker, sister-in-law, Dorothy Gillespie (Son), brother-in-law, Billy Smedley (Helen), 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Tarver, Lee Tarver, Trey Mason, Mark Gillespie, Glynn Peoples and Jake Smedley.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenny Swilley, Son Gillespie, Billy Smedley, Joel Smedley, Justin Tarver, Johnny Ray Maples, and David Gillespie.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Kevin Ingram and Enhabit Hospice.
